Current Student 2017 CSU Global Photo Competition Terms and Conditions

By entering the “2017 CSU Global Photo Competition” (Competition) you accept the following terms and conditions.

Promoter

  1. The promoter of the Competition is Charles Sturt University (ABN: 83 878 708 551, CRICOS Provider 00005F Panorama Avenue, Bathurst, New South Wales 2795 (CSU).

Competition Period

  1. The Competition will commence on Monday 3 April 2017 at 12.01am AEST and close on Sunday 30 July 2017 at 11.59pm AEST (Competition Period). Any entry posted outside the Competition Period will be invalid.

Eligibility

  1. Entry in the Competition is open to all CSU undergraduate or master’s coursework students (CSU Student) and currently employed CSU staff (excluding staff of the Division of International Education and Partnerships and their immediate family) (CSU Staff) (each an Entrant).
  2. Any Entrant under 18 years must have the consent of their parent or guardian to enter.

Competition Rules

How to enter

  1. To enter, Entrants must take a photo from either a CSU Global registered program (if the Entrant is submitting their entry as a CSU Student) or from an official CSU business trip (if the Entrant is submitting their entry as CSU Staff) which must be taken within 12 months of the commencement of the Competition Period and either:
    1. email the photo to CSU Global at csuglobal@csu.edu.au and include a comment with details about the photo and whether the photo is from a CSU Global registered program or from an official CSU business trip;
    2. post the photo on the ‘CSU Global’ Facebook or Instagram page, use the hashtag #csuglobal and include a comment with details about the photo and whether the photo is from a CSU Global registered program or from an official CSU business trip; or
    3. post the photo on Facebook or Instagram (ensuring the privacy settings enable the photo to be seen by CSU Global), include the hashtag #csuglobal, and include a comment with details about the photo and whether the photo is from a CSU Global registered program or from an official CSU business trip.
  2. This is a photographic competition. No videos will be accepted.
  3. There is a limit of one (1) entry per Entrant. Judging and award of prizes
  4. This is a competition based on skill and merit
  5. . A selection panel comprised of CSU staff will determine the top 20 entries based on their originality, creativity and relevance from a combination of Entrants who are CSU Students and CSU Staff as soon as practicable following the end of the Competition Period
  6. CSU students and staff will then be asked to vote for the winning entries based on their originality, creativity and relevance. The photos with the highest numbers of votes will be awarded prizes in accordance with these terms and conditions (Winners).
  7. The decision of the selection panel and the subsequent popular vote is final.
  8. CSU reserves the right to verify the identity (including CSU number of CSU Student/CSU Staff) and eligibility of an Entrant prior to awarding a prize.
  9. CSU’s decision about the eligibility of an Entrant and/or their compliance with these terms and conditions is final.
  10. Winners will be announced on Monday 4 September 2017 via Facebook Live and Instagram and CSU will also notify the Winners via their social media account or personal email that same day.

Prize

  1. For Entrants who are CSU Students, the prizes are as follows (Student Prizes):
    1. First prize: 1 x gift card for the value of $500
    2. Second prize: 1 x gift card for the value of $200
    3. Second prize: 1 x gift card for the value of $200
    4. Third prize: 1 x gift card for the value of $50
  2. For Entrants who are CSU Staff, the prize is as follows (Staff Prize):
    1. First prize: Twin pack of CSU wine and a trophy (such trophy must be returned to CSU Global no later than 2 April 2018).
  3. Each Entrant is limited to one Student Prize or Staff Prize (as applicable) only.
  4. The Student Prize or Staff Prize (as applicable) are not transferable or redeemable for cash.
  5. To claim their Student Prize or Staff Prize (as applicable), each Winner must contact CSU by an email to csuglobal@csu.edu.au by 5.00pm AEST Monday 11 September 2017. After this time, the applicable Prize is forfeited to CSU. CSU is not liable to compensate any person who fails to claim their applicable Prize. CSU may, in its discretion, offer any unclaimed applicable Prize to another Entrant using the same judging criteria as described in these terms and conditions and will notify such Entrant as soon as practicable following their decision.

Use of Social Media

  1. This Competition is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Each Entrant releases those entities from any liability in connection with the Competition.
  2. The use of any form of social media is subject to the terms of use of that medium and each Entrant must assess those terms for themselves.
  3. Entrants must not tag themselves or any other person if they are not pictured in the entry.

Content of Entry

  1. Each Entrant warrants that they are the creator of the entry, they own the copyright and their entry does not infringe any third party rights.
  2. Each Entrant must obtain the consent of any person who can be identified in their entry prior to submitting it to the Competition.
  3. CSU may remove any entry from its social media pages without notice for any reason.
  4. An Entrant must not submit any material which is unlawful, fraudulent, an infringement of any intellectual property, privacy or other rights, defamatory, obscene, derogatory, pornographic, violent, abusive, harassing, threatening, sexist, racist, discriminatory, hateful, or otherwise unsuitable for publication.
  5. By entering this Competition each Entrant grants to CSU a non-exclusive, irrevocable royalty and fee free licence to use, reproduce, publish and distribute their entry, for the purposes of the Competition and all other activities promoting CSU. The entry may be published in any media, and CSU may alter or edit the entry as required to make use of the entry for the permitted purposes. Each Entrant consents to any act by CSU which would otherwise infringe their moral rights.

Release and Liability

  1. . To the full extent permitted by law, CSU excludes all liability arising in connection with this Competition, any entry or any applicable Prize.
  2. CSU is not responsible for any late, lost, incorrectly submitted, delayed, incomplete or corrupted entry whether due to error or otherwise. CSU is under no obligation to accept any entry which is not submitted in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  3. CSU reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition, in which case it will post a notice on its Facebook page.
  4. Without prejudice to any other rights of a party, each Entrant indemnifies CSU against any loss, claim or damage arising from the Entrant’s participation or entry in the Competition.

Privacy

  1. CSU may collect, store and use personal information collected from Entrants in order to conduct the Competition and related purposes.
  2. Each Entrant consents to the publication of their name and details if they are a Winner.
  3. Personal information is managed by CSU in accordance with the CSU Privacy Management Plan: http://www.csu.edu.au/about/legal. Any Entrant can contact the CSU Ombudsman about personal information held by CSU about them.
  4. Supply of personal information is voluntary, but if an Entrant declines to do so then CSU may not be able to include their entry in the Competition or award a Prize.
